Adjudicators needed for NRP Heritage Fair – Wednesday May 09
The Grade 4 and 5 students have been working hard on their individual projects for the NRP Heritage Fair, which will take place Wednesday, May 9, from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM. The program relies on volunteer adjudicators (judges) to evaluate the student projects. What’s involved? The time commitment can be the entire day (9 AM – 3 PM) or half a day (morning or afternoon). The coordinator, Janet Morley, will provide more instructions the day of the event. Earthquake Drill Today @ 2pm
Today at 2:00pm, NRP will be participating in “The Big One”, a provincial earthquake drill. Please note that, during the drill, the school will not be accessible to anyone. Parents and guardians, please do not enter the school until 3:00pm, when the earthquake drill is done. If you need to pick up your child early to appointments, please report to the school before 2pm. VSB Budget process The VSB has adopted a new budget process that includes surveying parents for feedback. A preliminary draft budget has already been shared at a VSB meeting earlier this month. Concerns have been raised that the budget reduces the number of non-enrolling teachers at the VSB, meaning less librarians and counsellors across the district. More information from the VSB is available here. The note about reduction of non-enrolling staff is on page 15 of this report. Art Volunteers/Free UTown Program/Free Baseball Games
Art Volunteers Ms. Tamara is looking for some art volunteers, as she has switched from music to art for the spring term. Duties include such things as washing paint brushes, displaying students’ art work and helping to maintain art supplies (eg, sharpening pencils). Help is welcome any day or days of the week after school, for as little or as much time as you can spare. Some jobs can also be done at home, or displaying artwork can be done during school hours.
