Dear Parents,
Our friends at the University Neighbourhood Association (UNA) would like us to share the following workshop run by the UBC Sexual Assault Support Centre (SASC). They thought it might be of interest to parents who want to learn more about how they can support their children, family members, and friends.
Responding to Disclosures of Sexual Assault
Old Barn Community Centre
Saturday, October 29
10:00am – 12:00pm
FREE
This workshop is a primer on how to respond to disclosures of sexualized violence in a way that is supportive, person-centered and trauma-informed. Instructors will provide a foundational knowledge of sexual assault and consent, and explore social, cultural, and institutional factors that facilitate sexualized violence and affect how others perceive and support those who come forward. The workshop reviews the Listen-Believe-Support framework of responding to disclosures, and goes over some resources available at the SASC, and elsewhere on campus. Coffee, tea, and light refreshments will be provided.
Register here for free.
Please note that this workshop has no affiliation with Norma Rose Point School or the NRP PAC.
Best regards,
NRP PAC Committee
