FREE NRP Skate Night- Saturday, Feb 1, 2025
Join us for our first NRP Ice Skate Night! Thunderbird has graciously donated FREE skate time exclusively to NRP families. It’s a FREE family friendly event for all skill levels at the UBC Ice Rink (Thunderbird Arena, 6066 Thunderbird Blvd). This is a free event, with a cash concession (snacks, drinks, pizza). You can purchase advance discounted concession tickets until Jan 24 via School CashOnline: https://www.schoolcashonline.com .
The event runs from 5:15-815pm; you can come at any time during this block of time as there are no pre-registration time slots required. Note that there is a maximum allowable number of skaters on the ice at one time; please stagger arrival times and limit skate sessions to 30-45 mins if it is busy. Helmets for kids are mandatory (no bike helmets allowed) and skate and helmet rentals are available for a $4.50 fee at the arena. No hockey equipment is allowed. See the event poster for all the details!
We need your help! Please volunteer for just 1 hour to help make this event run smoothly. Note: All language speakers welcome

After School Program Opportunities
Could your child benefit from extra support on their way to becoming a confident, joyful reader? ONE TO ONE is excited to invite students from across B.C. to apply for our 2024-2025 Virtual Reading Program. The program runs after school through the school year and allows children to make reading a habit by reading for 30 minutes, once a week, with a dedicated volunteer literacy tutor. Sessions will focus on building literacy skills and self-confidence; students will practice reading accurately and fluently with understanding.
Our Virtual Reading Program:
- Provides weekly, 30-minute reading sessions from February 18, 2025 to May 30, 2025 (with breaks for school holidays)
- Is hosted on Zoom, using Epic! Books
- Takes place after school, between 4:00-6:00pm
- Is free to join, but spaces are limited and dependent on both family and tutor availability
