Making & Playing Instruments in Nature – https://recreation.ubc.ca/camps/summer/making-playing-instruments-in-nature/ – The camp for ages 6-8 is full, but there are still some spots left for ages 9-12.
Be inspired by the synergies of music and nature! This camp invites inquisitive campers to explore soundscapes and the meaning of music through experiential and play-based learning. Together with camp leaders, children will explore their own musicality through multisensory and hands-on activities: building instruments with recycled materials, singing and playing instruments and songs, storytelling, arts-and-crafts, and musical play. By interweaving movement and music with the camp activities, campers will begin to experience rhythms, sounds, emotions and contrasts of music intuitively, creating space for spontaneous musical expression. Activities will take place outside as much as possible and opportunities to play real instruments will be provided.
