Spring Fair Silent Auction Preview

We are so excited to be holding the Norma Rose Point School Spring Fair again for the first time since 2019. The Fair has always been a community-building event, not only for the families of NRP, but also for the wider UBC campus and nearby Vancouver neighborhoods. Part of the Fair is our silent auction fundraiser. It’s a way for the community to support the school (donations will go towards building a new intermediate playground and community-building events), and the in-kind donations we’ve received from local businesses and families have been tremendous!

We’re going to give you a preview of some of the items that you’ll be able to bid on during the silent auction on May 5, 2023 from 3:00 – 6:45 PM. You’ll find the silent auction display area inside the school, near the Learning Commons.

Are you a local sports fan? We have a Vancouver Canucks autographed Quinn Hughes jersey donated by the Vancouver Sun and Province!

We also have an autographed photo of Elias Pettersson donated by the Vancouver Canucks and a couple of tickets to a BC Lions home game.

If you enjoy live performances, be sure to bid on a Bard on the Beach voucher that you can use for this summer’s performances of As You Like It or Julius Caesar, as well as vouchers for performances at the Chan Centre and UBC Theatre.

Looking for some fun activities? We have vouchers that you can use towards summer programs and camps at Daedalos Academy, Christianne’s Lyceum of Literature and Art, and Arts Umbrella. You can also bid on an arts-themed birthday party at 4Cats Arts Studio UBC and a couple of day passes to Playland. For book lovers, we have some gift cards from Kidsbooks.

With Mother’s Day coming up, perhaps a special mother in your life would appreciate these lovely Half Star earrings from Lía Marant:

You can also improve your well-being and fitness with an intro class pass at VNYSA Yoga Studio or a set of jump ropes from the Canadian Jump Rope Company. Or support the UBC Farm and enjoy the perks of an annual membership.

Add some natural beauty to your home or office with a set of three framed prints from the UBC Herbarium at the Beaty Biodiversity Museum. Two of the prints are shown here:

Several local restaurants and eateries donated gift certificates. We’re very grateful to The Farmer’s Apprentice, Wildlight Kitchen and Bar, Minato Sushi, Doughgirls Comfort Kitchen & Bakeshop, Rain or Shine Ice Cream, Stong’s Market, and UBC Food Services. Trees Organic Coffee donated several bags of their organic coffee. We also received a unique donation of “Lunch with the MLA” from local MLA David Eby: he’ll take you and a friend to lunch in our community.

We called on parents to donate items, and did they ever come through for us! Among the donations were a used bike, baby gift bundles, toddler toys, gift cards, and an impressive collection of used Lego sets (some pictures below).

We’ll have all this and more! The silent auction will run from 3:00-6:45pm on Friday, May 5, 2023. If you win an item, we’ll be accepting cash, cheques, and credit cards – with a preference for cash or cheque to avoid credit card fees, if possible.

Thank you again to all of the local businesses, organizations, and families that supported us by donating to the silent auction. See you at the Spring Fair!
