Please find the meeting agenda and the draft meeting minutes from last AGM (also can be found in PAC Documents). Please email PAC if you have any questions.
Here is the background of the guest presentation:
Friends of Mugeta
Mr. Joash, one of the NRP parents is an incredible person who has made an amazing difference to his community in Mugeta, Tanzania. He has dedicated his life to educating his people. There was no school in Mugeta and now there are 200 students enrolled and ten teachers. They presently rank 100 / 9000 schools in Africa!
NRP is well known to students and staff at Mugeta School – staff even wear NRP t-shirts! Our school has been supporting the Mugeta Children’s School since when NRP was still at the portables. Over the years, various fundraising efforts have taken place in support of books, a floor, a roof, a “playground”, and a well. When the “playground” (a backyard set from Walmart) was installed, parents would walk 4 – 6 hours to the playground to allow their children to play. It is a remarkable story. There are so many heartwarming stories to tell and Mr. Joash comes to NRP yearly to speak to students to share a part of his world.
Yearly, various NRP communities undertake fundraising initiatives in support of Mugeta. Money has been raised from school concerts, lemonade sales, holiday card sales, bake sales and alike. NRP has never forced people’s participation. It has always been a choice to gather funds (or books) and Mr. Joash navigates the spending.
This year, the goal is to gather school supplies. Students use plants for art colours (tomato plant leaves for green, etc). They do not have such a thing as a backpack. The challenge this year is to send 200+ backpacks with school supplies and 10+ backpacks with teacher supplies. Mr. Joash is heading to Africa in December so this would be a November initiative.
Mr. Joash has requested to speak to PAC so that parents have an understanding of NRP’s yearly Friends of Mugeta initiative. As usual, he is also able to present to NRP students and be the guest speaker at school’s next assembly.
