The following was posted today on the NRP App. It is extremely important that all parents understand and follow the new procedures. It has been taking up to 3 hours a day for Lily in the office to get through all the unreported late arrivals or absent children. This is way too long and it is preventing the school office from getting other work done. The goal of this program is to quickly identify any child that has not arrived to school so parents can be notified and, if something has indeed happened, the authorities can be called as quickly as possible.
Below is the App notice. I have attached a Chinese translated copy.
The Safe Arrival Program started this year throughout the district. The purpose of this program is to ensure the safe arrival of students at school on a daily basis. This is what we need parents to do when your child is going to be absent or late for any reason (holiday, dental appointment, sick, etc):
You have one of two ways to report an absence or late arrival to school:
- Phone the school at 604.713-5950 before 9:00am. Press 1 to Report an Absence.Include the following information and speak clearly: Child’s first and last name, division number or teacher, how long they will be away, or if late — when they will arrive.
- On the NRPS App, go to Absence and complete the form. Remember to press “submit”.
If your child arrives late, please remind him or her to report to the office to sign in.
If you don’t report the absence, you will receive a phone call from the school. Thank you for your cooperation.
